Neurologic Rehabilitation
Therapy for brain, spinal cord or nerve-related injuries or conditions

When diagnosed with a nervous system or neurological disease, the first thought is to seek the help of specialists.
Rehabilitative specialists are important in completing the big picture of caring for the whole patient. In collaboration with your primary care providers, neurological specialists like neurologists, physiatrists and neuropsychologists, and of course, your family care team, our clinical experts work with you and your family members to improve abilities.
Neurologic conditions present differently over time so as you move along the spectrum of condition progression, our therapists* can be your coaches for care.
- Physical therapists are focused on the goal of restoring and maintaining the ability to move and do physical tasks. They help and treat patients with a neurologic disease or injury contributing to pain or loss of strength, diminished range of motion or loss of balance/coordination.
- Occupational therapists play a vital role in assessing how well patients can do daily tasks such as eating, dressing, toileting and bathing. With independence as their driving force, occupational therapists work with patients to help them do as much as possible on their own.
Who benefits from neurologic rehabilitation?
Neurologic rehabilitation is designed for patients who have experienced an injury or condition that impacts the brain, spinal cord or nerves. If you have experienced cancer either directly in areas that impact the neurological command center or through cancer treatments for other parts of the body that have residual neurologic symptoms, rehabilitation can return quality to life.
Neurological disease or injury can make it difficult to move freely, speak, swallow, breathe or learn. Our clinical experts work one-on-one to target the specific areas of concern and work toward improvement.
With more than 600 neurological diseases it is difficult to list everyone who could benefit from rehabilitation.
Some common diagnoses include:
- Stroke
- Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
- Parkinson’s disease (PD)
- Multiple sclerosis (MS)
- Cancer care
- Amputation
- Concussion
- Vestibular
- Cerebral palsy (CP)
- Guillain-Barre syndrome
- Myopathy
- Muscular dystrophy (MD)
- Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
